About the service

What is the Digital Nomad Visa in Spain?

The Digital Nomad Visa in Spain is a modern residency permit designed for a new generation of professionals: those who can work from anywhere. It allows non-EU citizens to live in Spain for up to five years while working remotely for companies located outside of Spain.

This visa is a game-changer as it offers a clear legal framework to live here without needing a traditional Spanish work contract.

The primary requirement is to prove your remote work relationship. You can be a salaried employee of a foreign company that allows you to work remotely, or a freelancer with international clients.

A key condition is that no more than 20% of your professional income can come from Spanish companies.

You must also demonstrate a stable income. The minimum requirement is to earn at least 200% of Spain’s minimum monthly wage (SMI), which for 2025 is approximately €2,760 per month. This amount increases if you bring family members.

One of the greatest advantages of the Spanish digital nomad residency is the ability to apply directly from within Spain. You can enter as a tourist and secure a three-year residency card without leaving the country. Alternatively, you can apply for a one-year visa from a Spanish Consulate abroad.

This permit also comes with a major tax benefit. You can opt into a special tax regime (an evolution of the “Beckham Law”) and pay a flat 24% income tax rate on your earnings up to €600,000, which is significantly lower than the standard progressive rates.

Your family, including your spouse and children, can also obtain residency with you in a joint application, allowing them to enjoy the same rights and lifestyle.

Our expertise is in navigating the requirements of the UGE-CE, the specialized unit that processes these applications in just 20 working days. We ensure your professional profile, income, and social security coverage are perfectly documented for a guaranteed successful application.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Digital Nomad Visa in Spain

Can I work for Spanish clients with this visa?

Yes, but with a limit. Your income from Spanish companies or clients cannot exceed 20% of your total professional income. The main focus of your activity must remain outside of Spain.
Yes. This is one of the visa’s biggest advantages. Applying from within Spain as a tourist can grant you an initial residence permit of up to three years, depending on the duration of your employment contract. This provides greater stability than the one-year visa obtained from a consulate.
For the main applicant, it’s 200% of the SMI (~€2,760). You must add 75% for the second family member (~€1,035) and 25% for each additional member (~€345). A family of three would need around €4,140 per month.
It depends. If you are a freelancer, yes, you will need to register as autónomo. If you are a salaried employee of a foreign company, your company must register with the Spanish Social Security system to make contributions on your behalf.
No, it is not automatic. You must actively apply to the Spanish Tax Agency (Agencia Tributaria) to be included in this special tax regime within six months of your arrival. It is a separate but crucial step.

Guiding you in every step to your bright future.
